For you, Nick Ling

If there was one person who could change so much my perspective in life, and forever impact how I’ve evolved as a person, that person would be Nicholas Ling.I met him, he was a 12 year old still in the defining ages of his life, yet with a very striking personality and aura about him. He was silent, non-chatty yet he had his presence felt whereever you are.That was 2003.5 years down the road,the last 4 being in a relationship,which sadly might be over because of my unjustified actions and stupid reasoning, he is still the one person I feel most comfortable talking about anything under the sun, cracking up silly jokes and snorting loudly even though things have definitely changed from head over heels to the dumps,drastically,for that matter.

Who am I? I'm the 18 year old long-distanced girlfriend named Chew Su Juin, who is deeply,immensely and absolutely blessed to have him in my life.

Nicholas is a guy of many wonders and accomplishments. He is very talented. He always has the right words, and they are also amazingly truftful but covered up with lots of wit. He will be on the forefront against anykind of injustice, with a vast vocabulary to boot, will silence the noisemakers in a society where expressing thoughts and being liberated has boundless of limitations and restrictions. When he faced discrimation of the academic kind, he stood up, instead of letting it bring him down, excelled in his studies and co-curriculum as well. His amazing stand for discipline was potrayed at a young age, when parents of the students while he was still studying in Primary School send thier kids late to school and tried to cover up their demerits, he refused and did his duty to report those irresponsible fools. What better way to trump by making them eat their own words?

One thing after many many years of courtship that never fails to impress me or serenade me,more like, is his drive to succeed. Not only does failing scare him, he goes all out to work for whatever he wants to achieve. This boy who enjoys playing the piano, who I must say is an amazing pianist, yet low-key about his achievement not only academically but other ways too. He is a good friend, who has helped many friends by giving them advice, housing them and just being the friend anyone could ask for. He is loyal, understanding, yet never boring. He could bring down the roof by mocks and teases, yet never crossing the line to insults and being over the top. He loves animals, and has many pets, dead or alive. He also voluntereed at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Ipoh and went to help out with special children,Riding with the Disabled (RDA) with horses before he got too tied up with his upcoming exams...He is one person who is highly and fiercely protective of his family, despite being the youngest, has an amazing bond with his parents and sister...Yet so highly driven,so talented, such a good friend, and helpful, and smart, he is very humble and people who know him well are definitely charmed by his well-brought up persona.

Nicholas enjoys music, and as mentioned before, plays the piano very well. He also plays the guitar, magnificiently,for that matter. He plays with such passions that sometimes makes tears swelled up in my eyes. He can, I can't count, memorise so many piano pieces and was in the school production as a musician for 2 years running. He has a keen interest for all things good, and also expensive, such as photography and the game of pool, and writes beautifully. Despite many of his strengths, I know one thing if you ever need to bribe him is,with food!His knowledge and being very bright when born makes him an superb conversationalist who enjoys smart and interesting company.

If there was things of the past or anything I would ever change, it would be hurting, or doing all the silly mistakes, really. Because he is someone you can respect,adore and just really enjoy time with. Sadly, like many before, I have taken granted of such a beautiful soul. With time,I hope, I can make up for the ignorance and vain imaginings I ever had and that have caused much conflict and dissension recently to our loving and strong courtship of 4 years. His love is full of passion, endearment and thoughtfulness. He has, thought me the meaning of true love and I'm eternally grateful. Words cannot suffice how fantastic, amazing, dynamic, strong yet tender, understanding and sentive Nick is. One has to close to be blowned away by whatever radiates and penetrates out of his 6 feet frame, to fully appreciate what a beautiful soul he is,who never forgets to stop and admire life for all it has given him.
